With Responsive Design Ethiopia, Nicola Borgmann and Juliane Kahl initiated a project in Addis Ababa dedicated to the technique of weaving. This cultural asset, which is still alive in Ethiopia today, opens up a wide range of possibilities for various design disciplines - from fashion to product design and art to architecture. In experimental workshops, Ethiopian and German designers, architects and students developed new applications and designs for weaving. In the creative process, new materials were woven on handlooms and then further developed into art, fashion, design and architecture projects. The spectrum ranges from furniture, light objects and clothing to urban design concepts and art.
