On the occasion of the publication of the new book einfach da Ulrike Lauber Fotografie, Architekturgalerie München presents a comprehensive insight into the photographic work of architect and photographer Ulrike Lauber.
Ulrike Lauber’s photography is driven by the pure pleasure of looking, while following a clear concept that has evolved over more than two decades of intensive engagement with the medium. Based in Berlin, Lauber is an architect by profession—successful in her field, while at the same time passionately pursuing photography.
There is a relaxed, meditative quality to her photography: Lauber discovers the extraordinary in the small, the sublime in the seemingly banal, and, in passing, lines, colours, patterns and structures whose fragmentary interpretation could readily be discussed in the context of Minimal Art. Ultimately, in the spirit of László Moholy-Nagy, Lauber is concerned with seeing itself. Her work is both a school of seeing and a visual experience—an invitation to sharpen our own perception through her selective gaze.
