Who are Munich's female architects? Largely unknown and even less publicized, “FRAUEN BAUEN München” presents a collection of outstanding architecture in Munich and introduces the lives and careers of its female architects. The collection includes selected works by 14 female architects who worked in Munich between 1930 and the 1990s, before the Internet age. The exhibition at Architekturgalerie München, a new website and a book present 36 buildings with the help of numerous photographs, plans and project descriptions. Together with the architects' biographies, they provide insights into the background of their work. FRAUEN BAUEN München is a step towards a more inclusive and equal historiography of architecture that recognizes the collective nature of architectural production. Furthermore, the project opens up perspectives for teaching and practice that take into account the different levels of participation and responsibility in the design and creative process. Excerpts from conversations with currently practicing female architects on these current issues and perspectives fill a room for listening in the exhibition. In addition to the biographies presented, perhaps the many and varied answers are what can teach us the most about today's training and practice.
