The fourth Stelldichein! is once again dedicated to the theme of the season Songs of Love and War and also combines with the premiere of War and Peace by Sergei Prokofiev. With its Stelldichein! format, the Bavarian State Opera is a guest at the Architekturgalerie München in the former bunker, which was built as a civilian air-raid shelter by the National Socialists during the Second World War. Since 2017, the site has been open to the public: the Architekturgalerie München is converting the bunker into a place of building culture and art. Together with the Architekturgalerie, morePlatz and the Bavarian State Opera, the idea for an exhibition project was born that makes the historical identity of the site tangible and at the same time reflects our times: An exhibition and music unfold on three floors of the Architekturgalerie.

The exhibition Rushnyk - Desastres de la guerra (The Horrors of War) processes prints by the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, which were created between 1810 and 1814. The aquatint etchings depict the atrocities committed by Napoleon's soldiers in battle with the rebellious Spanish population against the French occupation. Caro Baumann is processing these etchings for the exhibition as embroidery pictures, so-called rushnyks, which use a traditional Ukrainian embroidery technique. These pictures are made, among others, by women who have fled from Ukraine to Germany. In contrast to Rushnyk - Desastres de la guerra, colourfully distorted city views of Kiev in times of peace are shown on the second floor. The series of images was photographed by Johannes Schele during a lecture tour in 2010.

On the opening evening, Thursday 22 June, the exhibition will be accompanied by works by Sergei Prokofiev and the Ukrainian composer Anna Korsun, who lives in Munich.
